The Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. (IPPNY) today filed with the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) its Brief on Exceptions in response to the Recommended Decision issued in the PSC's Article VII Transmission Line Siting proceeding on the Champlain Hudson Power Express, Inc.'s (CHPE) application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to construct a transmission line from Canada to New York City.

Albany, NY 12/28/12 - Throughout the Article VII Transmission line siting proceeding at the Public Service Commission, the Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. (IPPNY) established that the Champlain Hudson Power Express (CHPE) project is not needed for system reliability, does not address existing transmission constraints, is uneconomic (meaning its costs will exceed its anticipated benefits) and does not advance several important state policy goals, including creating in-state jobs and promoting in-state renewable resources. Through expert economic analysis, IPPNY clearly demonstrated that the project, if certified, will ultimately prove detrimental to New York's consumers and to the state as a whole.

The Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. (IPPNY) today filed with the New York State Public Service Commission (PSC) its final brief in opposition to Champlain Hudson Power Express, Inc.'s (CHPE) application for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need to construct a proposed transmission line from Canada to New York City. During the Project's Article VII Transmission Line Siting proceeding at the PSC, IPPNY has demonstrated critical pitfalls concerning the economics of the Project and the associated risk to New York State residents and businesses. New York's energy marketplace simply cannot provide sufficient revenues to support the unneeded and uneconomic transmission line, meaning the Project would require significant subsidies to be built and become operational.

(IPPNY) is urging the NYS Public Service Commission (PSC) to accept Covanta Energy Corporation's petition to include Energy from Waste (EfW) as an eligible renewable technology under New York's Renewable Portfolio Standard (RPS).

Albany, N.Y., 6/22/11 - The Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. (IPPNY) supports Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and the Legislature's agreement to a new power plant siting law, and appreciates their extraordinary effort to hammer out a deal. The Governor's Program Bill marks the end of over an 8-year period without such a law in place. This legislation is an improvement over previous proposed versions, as it provides a single permitting process that can be completed in one year. The law recognizes the importance of a power plant siting process as a key component of competitive electricity markets.

In a letter dated March 25, 2011, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg requested the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Commission) to "reconsider"� your commitment to a functioning New York electricity market expressed in the Commission's January 28, 2011 Demand Curve Order.
