Communications Manager

Job Description:

Manage day-to-day internal and external communications for a statewide energy industry trade association. Work with the President & CEO to develop and implement public relations strategy. Plan and execute special communications projects including our annual membership directory, whitepapers, and advertising. Represent the industry in regulatory proceedings. This position is a full-time position located in Albany, NY. All applicants MUST submit a resume.  

Essential Job Functions:

  • A wide variety of writing responsibilities, including technical issue updates for the membership; press releases; speeches and talking points; presentations; creative public relations writing; meeting notes and board minutes.
  • Develop and implement comprehensive public relations strategy for association. Coordinate with public relations professionals at Member companies, industry partners, and other associations.
  • Assist with event/conferences including marketing and advertising for association events.
  • Manage all association publications including brochures, membership directory and association website from conception to publication. Manage all design, print and other service vendors.
  • Plan advertising campaigns. Design ads in-house marketing and work with external organizations to produce assets
  • Build and maintain relationships with local and trade media, and targeted advertising professionals.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher.
  • 3-5 years communications experience.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Must be able to handle multiple responsibilities/deadlines at once.
  • Association and/or energy industry experience preferred.

  • Excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Must be willing to learn about our complex industry.
