IPPNY Supports Governor Cuomo's Nomination of Diane Burman to the PSC

Albany, N.Y., 6/21/13 - Independent Power Producers of New York, Inc. (IPPNY) commends Governor Andrew M. Cuomo for his nomination of Diane Burman to the New York Public Service Commission (PSC). IPPNY also congratulates Ms. Burman, whose many years of experience in state operations as Counsel at the PSC and the NYS Senate will make her another welcome addition to the PSC, along with Audrey Zibelman who was confirmed as a new Commissioner earlier this week.

IPPNY President & CEO Gavin J. Donohue said he is looking forward to working with Ms. Burman in her new role on issues of importance to IPPNY Members, who generate over 75 percent of the state's electricity.

"Ms. Burman's background in government administration and previous experience at the PSC will make her a knowledgeable and judicious Commissioner. Her work on the re-enactment of a fuel and technology neutral power plant siting law, ensuring the consistency of legislative initiatives with the competitive energy marketplace and helping to minimize new or increased costs on energy production that would result in heavier burdens on consumers, provides a broad foundation for informed and practical decision-making.  IPPNY looks forward to working with all of the PSC Commissioners in maintaining the success of the competitive markets in New York," said Donohue.
